Inspired by miniature paintings called Lover's eye of Victorian era. Such portraits appeared between the 1790s and 1820s in the courts and wealthy households of England, Russia, France and even, quite rarely, America. Eventually, not just lovers but beloved family members were portrayed.It was very popular motive in those days and is making its comback in recent years. Dedicated to all Drama Queens out there.
